BREEAM is one of the oldest internationally oriented and widely used sustainability assessment systems for buildings, with a particularly high profile among Anglo-Saxon investors and fund managers. For a portfolio that is marketed or held internationally, an all-German certificate may have less impact than a BREEAM rating, even if the underlying building quality is comparable. The decision for BREEAM is therefore particularly worthwhile where the target audience knows the system and asks about it.
